What we rate

We provide accessibility reviews of local venues, events, and public spaces throughout Western New York. Our reviews focus on real-world barriers and lived experiences not just technical compliance.

Depending on the location, we may assess:

 • Entrances and exits

 • Parking availability and layout

 • Restroom accessibility

 • Wheelchair-accessible seating and tables

 • Mobility space

 • Staff attitude and customer service

 • Sound, signage, lighting, and sensory elements

Whether you’re visiting a restaurant, stadium, park, or community event, our reviews help you know what to expect before you go.

Currently, reviews reflect the perspective of a manual wheelchair user. Our goal is to expand and include insights from:

 • Power wheelchair users

 • People with low vision or hearing loss

 • Individuals with sensory sensitivities

 • Parents with strollers

This ensures our ratings represent the full spectrum of real-world accessibility needs.

How we rate

 How We Rate

Accessible Buffalo uses a custom “Wheelz” Rating System. Each review includes an overall score and details categories so you can clearly see how accessible a location is.

Wheelz Rating Scale

 • 5 Wheelz – Outstanding accessibility. Every aspect, from parking to restrooms, exceeds expectations.

 • 4 Wheelz – Very accessible. A few minor issues, but generally easy to navigate.

 • 3 Wheelz – Average accessibility. Usable, but may require extra effort or some assistance.

 • 2 Wheelz – Below average. Multiple barriers present; assistance likely needed.

 • 1 Wheel – Severely inaccessible. Major barriers throughout.

Each review also includes firsthand notes for key features such as parking, entrances, restrooms, staff, and more so you get more than just a score, you get real context.
